About The War Memorial Group

The Pirton World War One Project brought a renewed interest in the First and Second World Wars, the men that served and died and raised questions over the condition of our war memorial.

The War Memorial Group was formed, largely due to the efforts of Tony French, and we negotiated a programme of refurbishment and improvement with the Parish Council and the Parochial Parish Council. days, and the work is now almost complete; the overpowering yew trees have been cut back, fencing, gates and a yew tree hedge planted, new steps and flower beds constructed and a programme of maintenance established.

For the moment, perhaps we can relax a little and watch the yew hedge grow, the yew trees regenerate and of course maintain it - volunteers welcome!
