Pirton Walking Group

The group started in February 2011 and is open to people of all ages. We have a short walk (up to 3 miles) on the 2nd Wednesday of the month and a long walk (5 to 7 miles) on the 4th Wednesday of the month. The longer walks usually have shorter option. Meet in the Fox car park 10am.

Most walks are followed by a visit to a pub for a drink, snack or meal, if you wish. We share cars as far as possible for the walks outside the village.

The walks are led by members of the group, who volunteer to take a turn 2 or 3 times a year. The leader plans and tests the walk in advance and assesses any risks. The walks are covered by JoyCare's insurance.

The primary aim is exercise, but the walks are very sociable occasions. We have also had a great deal of pleasure discovering the flora and fauna of our local countryside and there is usually somebody who can readily identify a borage plant, a lapwing or a speckled woodpecker.

There is no charge for the walks, although donations to Joycare are always welcome.

For more information, please contact the coordinator, Margaret Craig or email.
