The Pirton WW1 Project

The Pirton World War Project has three main goals:

  1. The book 'The Pride of Pirton' *1 documents all the men with a Pirton connection that served in the Great War - The PHSG has facilitated this part of the project.
  2. Ultimately to place as much of the research for these men as possible on this website*1 - The Pirton ‘Archive facilitates this part of the project.
  3. To undertake the above in such a way as to be able to add information and update it whenever new information is discovered. - The Pirton ‘Archive facilitates this part of the project.

Most people in the village of Pirton are aware that a small team (Tony French, Chris Ryan and Jonty Wild) have now published a book, The Pride of Pirton, which documents all the men with a Pirton connection that served in World War 1.

This includes:

We believe that this book in an important local historical book, covering, as it does, all the men with a known Pirton connection. Those who sacrificed their lives and those who survived I around 230 men.  It is the definitive book on the men from Pirton who served.
