The Pride of Pirton

Book Acknowledgements

It would have been incredibly difficult to have written The Pride of Pirton book without the excellent professional reference sources provided by the Hitchin Museum, the National Archives at Kew, the British Library (Newspapers at Colindale) and those provided on the Internet by the Pirton Local History Group.  Many individuals have also taken the time to help the Pirton WW1 Project by providing information, photographs, documents and artefacts; some arriving from as far away as Canada and the USA. A huge amount of help was also received via the wealth of Internet websites that do so much to supply the information and facts that keep this part of our history alive and accessible.

Here (as well as in the book) we hope to acknowledge all the people and organisations that have helped.  This section is divided into the following sections:

‘Sponsors’, ‘People’, ‘Organisations’, ‘Documents, Books and Databases’,
‘Websites’ and ‘Photographs and Artefacts.

Here we try to thank them all. This is difficult as there are so many, but we have done our best. Please forgive us if we have inadvertently missed any individual or source and please let us know so that we can correct that omission at the earliest opportunity.

We are pleased to acknowledge the supporters and sponsors of this project who provided the essential financial backing to enable us to complete the book. We hope that we have enabled you to be proud of the result.

Except for the photographs, the listings are in alphabetical order.  the photographs and images are listed against the relevant section/chapter in the book:
